License Activation
Activation requires internet access
PentestPath Pro activation requires a working internet connection at the time of activation. The licensing backend must be reachable to validate your key and bind it to your machine.
Once activation succeeds, you can use PentestPath offline for up to 14 days before a revalidation is required.
Key is rejected at activation
Check the following:
- The key is entered correctly with no leading or trailing spaces.
- The key has not already been activated on the maximum number of machines allowed by your plan.
- Your internet connection is stable and not blocked by a proxy or firewall.
If the key is still rejected, contact support with your key and the error message shown.
Activation succeeded but app still shows Free
Try the following:
- Restart PentestPath fully.
- Open Settings and check the license status displayed there.
- If the status still shows Free after a full restart, try triggering a manual revalidation from the license section in Settings.
Offline grace period expired
After 14 days without a successful validation, PentestPath reverts to Free mode until it can reach the licensing backend again.
Solution: Connect to the internet and reopen PentestPath. Revalidation happens automatically on launch.
System clock rollback detected
PentestPath's licensing flow monitors for significant local clock changes. If your system time moves backward beyond the tolerated drift, the app can revoke the active Pro state.
Solution: Correct your system clock and restart PentestPath. Revalidation will run on next launch.
Machine change or hardware ID change
Activation is bound to a hardware identifier. If you move to a new machine or make significant hardware changes, you may need to activate again.
If your activation count is exhausted, contact support to reset your device slots.
