Import & Export

Current package format

PentestPath uses .ptpx as the current session package format.

A .ptpx export is used to:

  • back up a session
  • move a session to another machine
  • share work through a controlled file transfer

What gets packaged

At a high level, PentestPath exports:

  • session state
  • related assets
  • report content
  • findings and evidence data associated with the session

Current compatibility notes

  • .ptpx is the main current format
  • legacy .ptp import may still be present for backward compatibility
  • encrypted .ptpx.enc workflows are not the default current path in the public product docs

Best practices

  • export before major upgrades
  • export before vault reset operations
  • keep backups before trying Team Mode or environment migrations
